Bradley International Airport (45 minute drive)

Although it’s in Connecticut, Bradley is the closest airport to Northampton (only about 40 miles). It is a small airport and only services a limited number of airlines, the largest of which include Southwest, Delta, and JetBlue. Airport code BDL.

Logan Airport (2 hour drive)

Logan is New England’s largest airport and will offer the most options for airlines and flights. However, it is about 100 miles from Northampton. Airport code BOS.

PVTA Bus

The Pioneer Valley Transit Authority (PVTA) serves Northampton with public bus transportation within the City and to surrounding towns in the Pioneer Valley (with direct service to Amherst, Easthampton, Williamsburg, Holyoke, and Greenfield). PVTA runs regular buses between the Five Colleges (Smith College, Mt. Holyoke College, Amherst College, Hampshire College, and the University of Massachusetts).

Driving Directions

From the hotel

Turn left out of the Quality Inn parking onto Conz Street. Take the third left onto Old South Street, then turn right onto New South Street (Route 10). At the light, turn left onto Route 9 (Main Street). Go straight through three traffic lights, turning left into Smith's main entrance (College Lane) shortly after the third set. The Conference Center is the long white building ahead on the right.

From the South

Northampton is off Route I-91 in Massachusetts. Take Exit 18, and follow Route 5 North into the center of town. Turn left onto Route 9 (Main Street). Go straight through four traffic lights, turning left into Smith’s main entrance (College Lane) shortly after the fourth set. The Conference Center is the long white building ahead on the right.

From the North

From I-91 South, take Exit 20, and follow onto Route 5 south into the center of town. At the intersection of Route 5 and Route 9 (Main Street), turn right onto Route 9. Go straight through four traffic lights, turning left into Smith’s main entrance (College Lane) shortly after the fourth set. The Conference Center is the long white building ahead on the right.

From East or West via Route 90

Northampton is off Route I-91 in Massachusetts (Massachusetts Turnpike Exit 4). Take Exit 18 off 91, and follow Route 5 north into the center of town. Turn left onto Route 9 (Main Street). Go straight through four traffic lights, turning left into Smith’s main entrance (College Lane) shortly after the fourth set. The Conference Center is the long white building ahead on the right.

Parking

Free parking will be available outside of Sage Hall, the Ainsworth Gymnasium, and the Indoor Track & Tennis Center (see Campus Map). Guests may park in any faculty/staff or visitor spaces found throughout the Smith College campus during the weekend (even those that say “Permit Parking”). Metered parking can also be found on the edges of campus and throughout downtown Northampton ($0.50 to $0.75 per hour; free after 6pm). All of these options are within walking distance to the Conference Center.
